In short
Basket+ is a shared grocery list for a household. It keeps only what it needs to share your list with the people you invite. There are no ads, no tracking, and nothing is sold.
What Basket+ keeps
- Your list and dishes: the things you add, their amounts and priorities, the dishes you plan, and dishes your family saves.
- Your name and emoji, if you choose to add them, so your household can see who added what.
- Your Basket Premium, if you subscribe: Apple's signed receipt for it. The receipt says which plan you have, its price, currency and App Store country, when it was bought and when it renews or ends, whether it will renew, and Apple's ids for the purchase. It never includes your payment details or your Apple or Google account: Basket+ stores only a one-way scrambled form (a hash) of the account, to check the receipt is yours. Only you and the people you share lists with can read it, so their iPhones can check it's real and show the leaf beside your name.
- A sign-in ID, if you sign in, so your phones stay in the same household.
- The Apple or Google account you sign in with, if you choose to sign in, so your lists come back on a new iPhone: the account's ID and the email address it shares (with Sign in with Apple you can hide your email, and Apple gives a private relay address instead). Your first name, if the account shares it and you haven't added a name, becomes the name your household sees. Basket+ never sees your password.
Basket+ doesn't ask for your phone number, location or contacts, and doesn't access your photo library: you pick one photo to scan.
Where it's kept
If you use Basket+ without an account, everything stays on your iPhone: nothing is sent to a server, and deleting the app deletes it all. Sharing needs an account.
Once you sign in, your list is saved on your iPhone first, so it works offline. To share it with your household it's also stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, hosted in India), which only members of your household can read. Google processes it on our behalf under Firebase's privacy terms. To keep other apps out of your lists, Firebase App Check asks Apple's App Attest to confirm that requests come from the real Basket+ app; it identifies the app, not you.
Who can see it
Only the people in your household. Anyone you give an invite code to can join and see and edit the shared list, so share codes only with people you trust.
Apple Intelligence
Where your iPhone supports it, Basket+ uses Apple Intelligence to suggest a picture, a category, or a dish's ingredients. This runs on your iPhone. Basket+ doesn't send it anywhere.
Microphone, camera and photos
You can say your list or scan one from a photo. Basket+ uses the microphone only while you're speaking a list, the camera only when you take a photo of one, and only the photo you choose. Both are understood on your iPhone: your voice and photos never leave it and aren't kept.
Basket Premium
Basket Premium is an optional yearly subscription. It's bought and managed through Apple; Basket+ never sees your payment details. It gives you as many lists as you like and Premium Support, and you can share it with one person you share a list with. Apple's signed receipt for it is kept with your account so the people on your lists can check it; deleting your account deletes it.
Recipes and other websites
"View Recipe" opens a page on a third-party cooking website, or a web search, inside the app using Apple's Safari. Those sites have their own privacy policies. Basket+ doesn't share anything about you with them.
Deleting your data
Without an account, Settings → Delete My Data clears everything from your iPhone; nothing of yours is on a server. With an account, go to Settings → Delete Account. To stop sharing a list without deleting anything, open the list's details and tap Leave List. If others share your household, you leave it and your name is removed (the shared list stays with them). If you're the only member, the household's list, dishes and names are deleted. Either way, your sign-in is deleted, Basket+'s access to your Apple or Google account is revoked if you signed in with one, and everything on your iPhone is cleared. Lists you made that others use are passed to them; lists only you use are deleted. A Basket Premium subscription is billed by Apple and isn't cancelled by deleting your account: cancel it in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting the app removes what's on your iPhone.
Children
Basket+ isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their personal information.
